This is Basil. He first came to us for acupuncture, biomechanical medicine, laser, rehabilitation and chinese herbal supplements back in August 2025 following back surgery for Intervertebral disc disease. He was back yesterday for a maintenance treatment.
We schedule our Dachshunds and other dogs with back issues for autumn and spring to coincide with the change in season as we have found that injuries occur more frequently with changeable weather. It has certainly changed in the last couple of days. It was a high of 28 degrees yesterday and is currently sitting at 14 degrees today. From Tshirt to thermal longjohns. No wonder, dogs have trouble adapting and are more prone to injuries around this time of the year. So far, touch wood, our preventative care patients have not had any relapses with back issues to date.
PS. At least I didn’t get wet riding my bike to work yesterday. 😉
