My cats have been regularly fed raw chicken wings since they were kittens. Peter (ginger) loves them while Uno (black and white) prefers rabbit chunks.
With the possibility of bird flu arriving on Australian shores and reports of the virus causing illness in a small number of cats and dogs, I have started to explore other alternatives. Luckily my cats will eat other raw meat apart from chicken. So it is off to the shop to buy some complete and balanced raw lamb patties this week and will be offering raw lamb hearts and beef/lamb bones for chewing. Most of the raw and lightly cooked pet food reputable manufacturers that I have approached are already taking steps to ensure that their suppliers have increased biosecurity measures on farms. Meanwhile, chicken will still be part of the menu unless their immune system becomes compromised.
