The Nutrition Journey So Far

Here’s the Facebook link to my story or read it below.

Two and a half years ago, my daughter and I attended a special scout ceremony at Government house. It was the start of my journey into nutrition which led me to attend the Integrative Veterinary Conferences Australia workshop at the amazing Ceres Environment Centre in Melbourne last week. What’s the connection

My daughter had heard about the Future Food Systems exhibition at Fed Square and we had a quick peek at (aka gate crashed) the presentation after the scout ceremony. https://fedsquare.com/events/Future Food system.

The First Book

Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston Price was the book that was on display and after reading a library copy of this book, the rest is history. I enrolled in a nutrition course through the College of integrative Veterinary Therapies. Was horrified to learn how kibble is made (think deep frying four times over before it is squished out into a shape, sprayed with oils and vitamins and packed).

The Second Book

Read another seminal book The Case Against Sugar. Joined many discussions about whole, less processed foods for people and pets.

Some Nutrition Gurus

While attending nutrition workshops this year, I met Dr Ian Billinghurst, a pioneer of raw feeding in Australia, Dr Anna, a professor at the University of Helsinki, Dogrisk research group and Dr Geraldine Blanchard, a french doctor in veterinary medicine, PhD, graduated from the European College of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition. The journey is only just beginning and there is more to learn, explore and discuss with my Natural Veterinary practitioners. As long as chocolate is exempt from any dietary restrictions (for me, not the dogs😉).
